What I wore when I played The Million Peso Money Drop

It's been days since the episode where we played was aired on tv so I guess I can now share the clothes that I wore for that day.

with another hopeful contestant.

As seen on my previous post, I wore my Japanese inspired jumpsuit with a violet obi belt to complete the look.

My Million Peso Money Drop Look

Last Friday, I received a call from a coordinator of The Million Peso MoneyDrop. They informed me and my bff, Eljay Deldoc, that we are one of the chosen teams to play the game on tv. It’s going to be my first time to join a game show so I want to make a dress not only to make an impression but to also introduce myself as a fashion design student to the public.

Sewing Practice

After buying a hell lot of fabrics from our field trip, I sat in one corner and I realized that I still cannot translate a pattern into a real dress. Sure,  I created clothes without any patterns before but this time I wanted to complete something with the use of what I learned from our Basic Pattern Class.

Revamping Old Clothes

The other day as I was cleaning my table at school, one of my teachers asked me if I wanted to get an old top that they are about to throw away. It was a stretched shirt with ruffled lace sleeves with a big angel wing print in front. Apparently they only collected the embellishments and have no more use for it.

Can you see the threads sticking out?

Without skipping a beat, I said I wanted to have it.  I took that offer as a challenge on how I can transform that sad little shirt into something more interesting.

Philippine Fashion Week Spring Summer 2013: Burdang Taal and My Top 5 Picks

As a fashion design student, I have to attend at least one show at Philippine Fashion Week. Even if I got several invites, I decided to attend only one show because I'm too busy at school and I don't want to watch alone.

What I wore
Top: The Vintage in My Closet, Leggings: Debenhams
Shoes: Schutz, Bag: Kultura Filipino, Necklace: Gift Market

I chose the Burdang Taal show because I feel that it was meant for me. After all, I am all about advocating the Philippine culture through fashion and I would love to create clothes using Philippine fibers. So what show can serve me this purpose better than the Burdang Taal show.

All White: Vintage Cher and Moi!

I love vintage! That's why I'm opening my new online shop, The Vintage in My Closet, in less than 72hrs. Aside from vintage, I also love Cher! So I guess it make sense to say that I love vintage Cher!!!

Vintage Cher

I may not have existed yet during the 70's until the early 80's but since I love Cher, thanks to Will and Grace, I did some research about her. I found out that she was fabulous way before I was brought to this world.

Flash Interview with Mark dela Peña (featuring his 2012 Fall Menswear Collection)

Since the new term is about to start next week, I went to FIP Makati to finalize the classes that I will take. I've decided to take Basic Pattern Making, Basic Menswear, and Basic Sewing.

I am really excited for this term, because after developing my illustrations skills via Basic and Advance Fashion Design I will now learn the basics of construction.

Before and After Fashion Design Class

I still can't believe that a few months ago, I am just dreaming of creating decent sketches of my own designs. I've always knew that I wanted to do fashion since I was young and now I really believe that I am slowly getting there.

Chanel Spring 2013 RTW and the Hula Hoop Bag

I've been so busy lately with my new project, The Vintage in My Closet, that I rarely got a chance to sleep. Who knew that working on an online shop's details is quite tedious. I'm just so happy that in 7days, my new online shop will be opening.

So in relation to my online shop, let's talk about the vintage aesthetic of Chanel and how it was treated with a modern twist by Karl Lagerfeld for it's Summer 2013 RTW... and of course we will talk about that show stopping Hula Hoop Bag.

The Vintage in my Closet

Today marks another first for me. Today I decided to put up my first online shop!

As I was trying my best to clear some space from my jam-packed closet, I decided to do put another dream into reality.

Sketches, Projects, and FIP Makati!

It was one busy week! Aside from watching The Phantom of the Opera and getting my prizes from Soul BGC, of course I have to give time to what I enjoy most... school work!!!

My seat work in Advance Fashion Design

Four months ago, I can't even draw a decent adult figure. When I started in Basic Fashion Design, my first drawing is so disturbing that I even proclaimed that my goal after the course is to be the "most improved."

Don't get me wrong, I may not be the best illustrator in class but if you've seen where I came from, trust me, you will definitely  agree. Check this post to see for yourself.

Bonifacio Global City and My Evolving Fashion Sense

Tuesday, I got a copy of Bonifacio Global City's Official Magazine Soul BGC.

As I was flipping through the pages of the magazine, I saw my picture on page 4. I am very surprised to know that I won their contest and I am their Reader of the Month!

The Day I Fell in Love with the Phantom of the Opera

It was around 11:00AM when I received a text message from a friend asking me if I want to sneak a peak at the backstage of The Phantom of the Opera, and without any second thoughts I immediately replied with a big YES! That was the beginning of my really interesting day.

Lady Gaga's Fame Eau De Parfum Review

I guess today is my lucky day! A colleague gave me a sampler of Lady Gaga's Fame Eau de Parfum. I've been searching for a place where I can purchase a bottle just to try this very controversial fragrance. Well at least now, I get to try it for free! I guess patience really is my friend. ^_^

My colleague said that when he found one in his luggage, he immediately remembered me and my wooden dress in Lady Gaga's concert. Because of his generosity, I decided to spread the kindness by sharing my two cents about Lady Gaga's much hyped black fragrance.

Haider Ackermann: Spring Ready To Wear 2013

I am still sick with runny nose, teary eyes, and swollen throat but I need to get out of bed to do my corporate slave duties. So before I start prepping up for work, let's have a quick view of Haider Ackermann Spring 2013 RTW which I find very corporate chic!

I don't know about you but I this collections gives me a very modern and hip Japan corporate scene. Maybe it's because of belts and layers which reminds me of the traditional kimono but the use of vibrant colors and prints gives it a modern twist. By the way, I gotta say that I am loving the first look of the collection. It's so Power Dressing 101 meets Edgy-Wendy-Goes-To-An-Industry-Party-Right-After-Work.

The Limited-Edition Bag and my Over-sized Square Bag

As much as I don't want to be a negative Nelly, I am currently sick and I can barely talk right now. Instead of blaming the universe for my swollen tonsils, I decided to search the internet for any bag designs that can make me smile... because bags are simply love materialized.

Friday: All about Embellishments and Bag Making

Embellishments. Aside from the design, the fabric, the cut, and the name of the designer who created the dress, the use of embellishments is a sure way to make clothes look and feel more expensive.

Busy Student Life and my dream Celestina Minaudiere

Too many things to do, so little time. I guess we all need a little more time to finish the things that we have on our lists. Just like any other working student, I am also juggling my time and energy. I just need to finish one very important project and then I'll be back to blogging on a daily basis.

Beads!!!

Tomorrow my patience will be tested once again. I will work with beads and various types of stitches in our Fashion Embellishment class. While learning the art of beading, I gained a whole new respect for people who do embellishments. I now understand why designer have their own set of beaders and seamstresses.

What I am most excited about is the bag that I will create in our Bag Making 1 class.

Check out my new school id at the end of this post!

6 Degrees of Separation: Zara, Mundo, Kultura Filipino, and some other characters in between

I'm so sorry if I wasn't able to post anything in the past few days. There's just a lot of things that I need to attend to, but the good news is that I have a lot of things to blog! Yey! So enough about my disclaimer, let's start shall we?

For the love of fashion, I decided to do some research about this season's fashion trends. As usual, Zara is my go to place for trends and I noticed that animal prints are very visible in their displays.

Alexander McQueen's Performance Art Dress

I almost ran out of ideas to explore for today's post and then I decided that I have to make another entry about the visionary and my idol, Alexander McQueen.

As I was looking for some inspiration for several projects that I have to finish, I remembered an image of one of Alexander Mcqueen's most memorable pieces of art, a white cotton muslin spray painted with yellow  and black with white synthetic tulle underskirt.

The Golden Egyptian Bride and Miss Flores de Mayo

After watching Drop Dead Diva's Season 4 Finale, I immediately remembered our 1st assignment in Basic Fashion Design. We were asked to design a complete wedding entourage. This got me excited because this was the first time that I get to practice my sketching skills.

My Sanctuary
As I was imagining conceptualizing my bride, I knew that I wanted to do a Mermaid dress and that it should also have a little something extra to make it unique. I just allowed my hands to draw some lines until a clear theme formed in my head. I wanted to do a bridal entourage inspired by Amazons and Gladiators, and the theme will be Love is a Battlefield. The Bride will be a Warrior Queen/Empress who came out as the victor of a Happily Ever After Battle Royal. Who said that women are simply damsels in distress? I wanted my muse to know what she wants and knows how to get it too.

Bonjour! Comment Allez-vous?

Since I was 7 years old, I've always been fascinated with the French Language. I guess it has something to do with the Vtech Laptop that I had when I was a child, which was configured only in the French Language. I remember failing miserably in the word games because I was entering the English answers while the laptop was talking to me in French. Instead of answering "Fille," I was answering "Girl" when an image of a smiling lass popped up on the screen. Eventually I was able to adjust and I learned several French words, simply because I have no other choice.

Looking Back: Make Over!

For my 10th day of blogging, I just wanna look back into an photo shoot that I did not so long ago. Instead of doing my it with my typical fabulous self, I decided to shake things up and try to "man" it up a bit. Lol

Preview's September Issue and a little something more

Nine days ago, I decided to start this blog and I wanted to make sure that I post on a daily basis. Today, my post will be about Preview Magazine's September Issue.

When I heard that Preview will feature bloggers as their September cover girls, I said to myself that I just have to have it! How cool is that? Just a few days after I jump started a new hobby, here goes one my favorite magazine giving me a dose of encouragement by recognizing the influence of bloggers in a very big way.

Fashion Design

I did a very spontaneous decision earlier. I went to FIP to attend this term's Fashion Merchandising class. Although our instructor Ms.Wanda Madarang already gave me a completed remark on this subject, I still wanted to learn the topics that I missed. When I arrived, I saw my previous classmates in Basic Fashion design taking the Advance Fashion Design course, which is also scheduled for that same day.

Can I just stay here everyday? Lol

My Fascination with Medusa

While having breakfast, my mom and I talked about life how it can be so unfair sometimes. We even got to the point of discussing about the The Bible. She said that she prefers the New Testament because it's more forgiving and unlike in the Old Testament which the heavens is quite unforgiving to humans.

McQueen: Fall 2012 Ready To Wear

Since we are already on the "-ber" months and the cold winds of Christmas is just around the corner, I decided to give my insights on the McQueen Fall 2012 RTW Collection.

I know some of you may have already seen this collection but I just wanna share my 2 cents about what Sarah Burton did for the Alexander McQueen brand.

So I finally decided to joined the blogging wagon. I've always wanted to blog but the procrastinator in me always overpowers my blogging desire. So here we go...
